I’ve always been interested in photography but it was only after my first children were born in 2001 that it became my passion. With my little point-and-shoot, I documented every new tooth, every new expression, every new taste. It gave me so much joy and satisfaction to know that I had captured a moment in time that would never happen again.
Then in 2003, my husband purchased a new DSLR for me for Mother’s Day and I became intensely interested in the technical aspects of photography. I learned everything I could about it. In my first year with the new camera, I took over 6,000 pictures.
That same year my daughter was born and we took her to a traditional portrait studio for her 3 month portraits. We paid over $200 for pictures that did not speak to us at all. They simply captured what she looked like at that moment, not WHO she was at that time. We have never been back.
Since then, I have been creating images of my children that evoke overwhelming emotion in me as a parent. A real, joyful smile. A pensive, faraway glance. Even a stubborn, fixed frown. Those are the moments I want to remember when my children are grown.
I look forward to capturing those fleeting moments for your family.
